Slept another 11 hour night last night. This is becoming less shocking the more times I find myself doing it. Sleep is usually something that comes easily, but at a later time. Usually I can't get to sleep before 11. These days I'm lucky if I make it 'til 9!
The seasickness has totally got me. I absolutely must keep nibbling or I have waves of the queasy. Only once did I think I was going to actually puke, but even that didn't end up happening. Thank goodness - I'm glad I'm not retching every time I feel sick.. I don't think I'd be able to work.
Apparently according to all the websites, Blinky is now the size of a pea, lentil, or other such legume. Apparently the tiredness is totally normal, as is the cramping I feel every so often. Nothing to be alarmed about. I'll mention both to my doctor at our first prenatal appointment next Wednesday. I suppose I have to get on the insurance thing and get transferred over to Eric's plan so that I can see the doctor that I want when it's finally time to see an OB.
Many details, many small inconveniences that will melt away in the long run. But if I didn't talk about the little stuff, there'd be no blog!
Welcome to the place to check up on how Baby Blinky (and mommy and daddy) are doing. I'll try to post when I can, please feel free to leave comments!

I knew better than to ask...
Now it looks like the queasiness is happening more frequently. Yesterday morning and last night around 9:30 were pretty wicked. But thankfully for now it has confined itself to short bouts.
I have never known myself to refuse a Wendy's frosty.. but last night it was just too.. too... well.. frosty. It's funny these cravings and aversions. They're just a mild feeling that something is wrong with whatever the item is. I've always wondered if the cravings were the body knowing *exactly* what nutrients it is missing and forcing you to go after foods that should deliver what it needs. I'm sure research has been done on it.

Ugh.
Queasy this morning for the first time. Still not exactly nauseous... hard to explain the difference. But I've been feeding it.. a banana first thing, and then a handful (well.. a handful if you're a yeti) of trail mix once I got to work. We'll see how that sits.
Well, I knew I'd pay for that comment last night.

Finally Cold-free
I'm finally free of this lame cold I've been fighting for the last week and a half. It's nice to finally feel like myself again.
Baby news is that I'm tired. Reeeeeal tired. Other than that, nothing to report. Slowly starting to bring more people into the "in the know" circle. It feels good to see everyone's delight.
In some ways I don't want to make it real quite yet - I'm still in dangerous waters, and the cramping is bothersome and makes me feel uneasy. I also read somewhere (trusted) that having nausea meant that you had a significantly lower chance of miscarriage. well, I don't have any nausea, so that's sort of the opposite, I'd assume. (Not that I'm asking for nausea, no sirree... not me.) So I'm just not getting super serious about names, or wondering if it's a boy or a girl, or fantasizing and getting attached. I'm really trying not to do that until after we're out of the woods. At least, the first set of big scary woods. The whole 9 months is a bramble if you ask me.
Oh, and I've kind of gotten used to my boobs just hurting like crazy. Dorie said they'll probably stay that way. Boooo. I was hoping for a respite in the middle. Ah well.

Cramp-o-rama
So I've been having weirdo cramps. Never terribly intense, and I understand that this is supposedly normal so I'm not really worried about them.. but they're kind of a pain in my ass. Literally. After not having had menstrual cramps for the last.. oh.. 17 years, it's really kind of a bummer to have them at all, much less each hour or so. They give me a slightly uneasy feeling, but only for about 2-4 minutes, then they fade. I'm hoping that this is one of those pesky first trimester things that will go away.
Still haven't been feeling ill, which is great. Smell continues to be stronger every day, and I've started finding certain things distasteful. I'm not sure if that's the baby or just me being picky. But it's not nausea, more like "that really doesn't taste good to me at ALL." I'm starting to get bummed about some of the things I'm having to skip. I tried to order sandwiches for delivery today, and realized that everything I wanted either had blue cheese or cold cuts. Gah! Oh well.. white whine.
On the more pleasant side, I am excited about getting prenatal massage from my very favorite masseuse ever. I saw him yesterday and he said that he'd be able to give me a deal for regular visits. I'm looking at going once every other week, as I think I'll probably need it. :)

Okay - that's just lame. The granola in my yogurt just seemed too crunchy. Like, I almost couldn't eat it. Oh, and Eric was driving me batty last night. No good reason, I was just terribly impatient with him. I've heard people say that the first trimester is like 90 days of PMS. For everyone's sake, I hope not!

Thtop it, I'm thenthitive.
So I am noticing that as my headcold fades away, it is being replaced by the telltale keen sense of smell. I am noticing smells and tastes that I hadn't even considered before. I think it's these smells that are contributing to my slight nausea - it doesn't feel chemical.. more like a general sense of "ew."
I don't think that's technically morning sickness, though it's definitely unpleasant.
All I can say is that you'd better be wearing deodorant around me for the next couple months, or you're likely to hear about it.
Addendum: I did a band-aid for a kid today at lunch and WOW... I smelled his blood like it was right under my nose. That will definitely be an unpleasantness if it continues. Blech.
